raise your hemline. show a little ankle.

while womenswear designers have traditionally always played with the hemlines of skirts, dresses, and pants, these past few years have brought an interesting twist to the norm. now, menswear designers and tailors are also playing with hemlines - by raising the hem men's pant legs. whether hemmed shorter or rolled-up/cuffed pant legs, this look is definitely here to say. and i do admit that i am enjoying the cleaner silhouette that this trend brings.

the ankle-grazing hem with slim-cut suits dates to mod styles of the 1960s. the look peaked among british youth before spreading across europe and america. i'm sure we can thank the beatles for this in some way, shape, or form. with the return of the '60s aesthetic in womenswear, it really was just a matter of time before this menswear trend flourished as well.

when your pants are hemmed to stop right past the top of your shoes, they actually compliment your figure and produce a heightening effect. and it allows for men to play around with creative expression through the use (or lack) of socks. i think this trend is such a great look for menswear.

and, of course, the look doesn't just stay with tailored suits. pairing your favorite sneakers with the cuffed hem of denim or chinos look just as sleek. the rise of the trend of joggers + running shoes have helped to bring the cropped hemline look more mainstream. and while i personally hate that the excessive casualness of regular sweatpant joggers, i do love how denim or chino joggers pair well with a good pair of Roshes, Air Max 90s, Gel Lytes, New Balances, and Jordans.
