The Daytime Clutch

I love wearing a clutch in the daytime. Without handles or pockets to complicate a look, the streamlined look of a clutch makes a great accompaniment to a everything from a leather skirt and stilettos to a day dress and some chucks. They're a chic yet convenient size to carry all your necessities. While most people opt to hold their clutch in hand by the top or stuff it underneath their arms, I've always preferred to hold it by the bottom...cause, you know, it just feels easier.

There isn't a big difference between nighttime and daytime clutches, except what you wear with. Take a fancy beaded clutch to an afternoon tea party but wear it with a casual outfit to balance the look. Or, grab an over-sized clutch in a fun color, print, or sparkles. Or, you can choose to stick to more casual or natural fabrics like wicker, rattan, leather or faux crocodile. As long as you can fit all your necessities into a clutch, it's fit to be your best daytime companion!

Many of my clutches have a long strap, very similar to the Zara Worn Leather Clutch one above. I just tuck the strap in to wear it as a clutch and, if I get tired of holding it, I can always take out the strap and wear it as a low-slung bag. Who doesn't love two purses in one??!

The Daytime Clutch

Years of experience have taught me that one of the best places to find a good, smart clutch is actually your local vintage or thrift store. They're usually always leather and always super cheap. My three favorite go-to clutches [a black over sized leather envelope clutch, the taupe soft leather clutch with a slight snakeskin texture (worn above with my floral jeans, neon heels, and pink blouse), and a gray and black pebbled leather envelope clutch] where all purchased at a thrift stores for less than $5 a piece. I can't guarantee that you'll find such amazing deals are your local Goodwill, Salvation Army, or Thrift Mart but I think it is well worth the trip.  For more awesome clutches, be sure to check out Shopstyle or Etsy.
